Shane’s Rib Shack Partakes in the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta, GA

July 4th, 2010

On July 4th, over 55,000 participants gathered near Lenox Square in Atlanta, Georgia to take part in what has become a city-wide tradition. The Peachtree Road Race, put on by the Atlanta Journal Constitution, was, until recently, the largest 10K race in the world, with 55,000 runners. Naturally, the sunny heat didn’t stop over 150,000 fans from packing the sidewalks for the 6.2 miles from start to finish and cheering on the participants.

This year, Shane’s Rib Shack set up tents on the sidelines of the Peachtree Road Race and cheered on runners as they approached the hill at the halfway point, famously dubbed Cardiac Hill by race veterans. The Shane’s tent included both an MC to engage the crowd and The Bull radio station to further promote the event. In addition to providing support and entertainment to the fans, Shane’s Rib Shack also showed their patriotism by supporting the troops abroad.  Shane’s gave away a free ‘Big Dad’ Sandwich to any to fan who wrote a letter to the troops.  Shane’s Rib Shack volunteers also handed out t-shirts, coupons and other promotional items that were a huge hit with the crowd!
