Shane’s Rib Shack reports strong 2010

GSA Daily Staff Report
Published Dec. 17, 2010
Atlanta-based Shane’s Rib Shack, which recently visited Greenville for potential fast casual barbecue restaurant locations, announced 50 franchise agreements and the opening of nine units in 2010.
Shane’s Rib Shack has new agreements for 25 new stores in Alabama and 20 new stores in Central Florida. Targeted growth markets for 2011 include Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee.
“After improving operations, food quality, and consistency of execution, we are poised and ready for rapid growth,” said founder Shane Thompson. “Based on the ‘brand rebirth,’ we are on the radar screen of multi-unit operators and will continue to complete multiple, multi-store agreements in 2011 and beyond.”
The company’s most recent opening was in Boca Raton, Fla. In 2011, Shane’s Rib Shack expects to open 12 units, including six locations in Athens and Pooler, Ga.; Birmingham and Mobile Ala.; and Panama City and Ocala, Fla.
Petrus Brands purchased Shane’s Rib Shack in January 2009. While the standard Shane’s is between 1,800 to 3,200 square feet, the company has the flexibility to design less traditional options as small as 600 square feet, including mall, university and airport locations.
